This summer’s major fashion exhibition at the V&A Museum is going to be momentous and is definitely one to catch if you are fan of fashion, clubbing, the 1980s or all three. Come to the beautiful V&A and explore one of the most experimental and decadent decades in fashion history.

Club to Catwalk: London Fashion in the 1980s showcases looks by the most experimental young designers of the decade, including Betty Jackson, Katharine Hamnett, Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano. This was an era when music and clubbing had a huge influence on mainstream fashion and the exhibition will look at how the impact of club culture was felt beyond the club doors . More than 85 vibrant and iconic outfits will be on display as well as featuring magazines of the time, such as i-D, The Face and Blitz that captured the images of the time and projected them to a wider audience.

The exhibition will be shown in Gallery 40, the the V&A’s fashion gallery, and there will also be a V&A Fashion Shop range inspired by Club to Catwalk with an opportunity to take away some key fashion pieces inspired by the London look. Keep an eye out for a book of the same title too.

Curated by the V&A’s Head of Fashion with the legendary Wendy Dagworthy as expert consultant, this radical and exciting exhibition is not to be missed.

Take a trip back in time to London in the fabulous 1980s.

Hi, I'm Nicola. A 30-something Londoner who lives for fashion. If I'm not running or reading, you'll find me writing or eating. Or drinking and dancing. I've travelled the world but my heart will always belong to London Town. I hope you enjoy my reviews.
